In the SDO AIA 1600 band

 

 

January 25, 2013, I would like to show you these new images of SDO. I was able to find them on http://www.helioviewer.org/ now also at this address http://delphi.nascom.nasa.gov/ .Until February the 14 it was http://www.helioviewer.org/ I see a change this February the 16 for http://delphi.nascom.nasa.gov/ strange, isn't it ?

The only band where I found them is SDO AIA 1600. Zoom the image to the maximum, then move the Sun to see the space between it and the extreme edge of the image. Then you enlarge with the keyboard by pressing the CTRL key and clicking up to eight times on the + (plus) so as to have a maximum magnification. The vertical and horizontal sliders to crop your image will implement immediately.

Looking for black shadows in the dark, almost invisible, in the vicinity of the Sun. Do this in a dark room or at night, otherwise you will not see anything. It is sometimes easier to see the shadows watching the screen in the vertical position. You will be sure to find the shadows.

On your keyboard push PRINT SCREEN and in your Adobe Photo Shop or a similar software , you push on FILE, NEW, OK and when your white sheet is displayed, EDIT, PASTE. Be sure the Helioviewer image is displayed on screen.

Select the image area of the solar space. To be clarified, by adjusting the light until the shadow turns into a well-defined object. You then play on the contrast and enlarge your image. If you can't remember, email me by clicking here.

Sometimes some sites of images put watermark designs, which allow to prove their property, but it remains always in the same frame. Here we are dealing with changes, that are never in the same place. Sometimes, designs are a lot similar. But for the beginning of this study, nearly identical drawings, are not at the same time or on the same day.

Before attempting to go into the details of the images, I would like to tell you that if you zoom a picture of SDO AIA 1600 on the database of Nasa on this url : http://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov/data/ your pixels will expand and you will not see anything of interest. Thoses images are of the same quality of the satellite STEREO Ahead and Behind images, that you will find in EUVI 195 at this address : http://stereo-ssc.nascom.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/images

But on Helioviewer at this address : http://www.helioviewer.org/ or this http://delphi.nascom.nasa.gov/ when you zoom with the slider on the left, it will be clear, without pixelation. But I think that each point zoom gives us a different picture. The structures seen at level 0 of the zoom, are not the same at 1 or 2 and so on.

The image does not change, we stay on the same plane, but a close-up image takes us through the level of the first structures, as if we were going through the fog and that behind at level 1 will show other structures and so on, as if we point our binoculars wherever to see various points, in a standard vision of the landscape field.

But how do they do that in Helioviewer? If anyone knows, please write to me here, thanks. It used to show an image every ten minutes, here are four perfectly net zooms, the same second with four different visions:

Here on the left of the picture, with http://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov/data/aiahmi/ the structures are invisible and the zoom reveals large pixels but, on the right side ,with http://www.helioviewer.org/ or http://delphi.nascom.nasa.gov/ after zooming you will be able to see the structures where the arrrows are pointing.

 

 

 


At the right of the pictures , the sun is hidden but the structures are still visible.

But how structures can be visible while hidden ? What is hidding them ?

 

 

 

After a few days of testing and working on several hundred images, I noted that the better method should be use. After the screen print in Helioviewer, open the image in Adobe Photo Shop and select the structure that interests you, and click on the IMAGE , ADJUSTMENT, BRIGHTNESS, CONTRAST, push + 15 in light and + 20 in contrast and OK. Then return to IMAGE, ADJUSTMENT and click AUTO CONTRAST the image will turn yellow. Push FILTER, CONTOUR INKED and 0 LENGTH of the line, about 20 in DARK and between 0 to 10 in CLEAR and Okay. Make test.

To enlarge again, click PRINT SCREEN, NEW , OK and you will find a blank page. Put the selection on this page and enlarge by clicking EDITION, TRANSFORMATION, SCALE. Select details to paste them to the main image.

Using this setting, you will get more details, different layers of shade, colour, light, contrast. Here are the images worked that way, three times the same object:
